Through the decades that followed, the company expanded internationally, respectfully adhering to the basic principles of dance instructions established by its Maestro, Mr. Fred Astaire. 

Today, the Fred Astaire National Dance Board, comprised of world dance champions, registered judges and certified instructors, constantly studies and reviews this curicculum to ensure that only the finest, up-to-date dance programs are being offered to novice, intermediate and expert dancers in our studios worldwide.

Competitions are always the fun event, with plenty of dancing and refreshments. The aim is for you to build the confidence dancing in front of an audience and also to work towards the goal. This is an opportunity for you to show your improvement to your friends and family who can be invited as guests. All competitions are optional.

• Studio (in-house) match dances. Students at the same level compete against the prescribed standard.
• Match dances against other Fred Astaire studio. Taking place in one of the two participating studios. Match dances give you an opportunity to visit other Fred Astaire studios. They are also the opportunity to compare the dancing at your studio with members from other Fred Astaire studios.
• National Championships: Twice a year, in May and October, all Fred Astaire dance studios from arround the country gather together to compete for trophes in National Championships.
