Q. How do I get started?
A. You are invited to attend our FREE introductory session where you will be shown basic steps in various dances. Agreements and other pertinent information will be explained to you. This takes approximately 30-45min.
Q. Is having a partner necessary?
A. Not at all, you will be paired up with a teacher who will play the roll of the opposite gender but it is usually less stressful with a friend.
Q. What are the studios operating hours?
A. For private lessons Monday to Friday 1pm-10pm. Our special functions and events such as exams, competitions and parties take place on Saturdays. For further information you can stay updated with our monthly calendar.
Q. Can I choose a time to suit my schedule?
A. Yes you may, preferably within our operating hours. We have NO CANCELLATION FEES if you find yourself having to reschedule your private leson.
Q. What should I wear to a lesson?
A. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended.
Q. Must I sign a membership contract?
A. No. A membership agreement is signed to give you membership status and rates. Membership agreements can be cancelled at any time for any reason, and no cancellation fees are charged.
Q. Is it possible to structure the membership agreement to my needs?
A. Yes, we arrange for a membership package to suit your needs.
Q. What is a private lesson?
A. It’s a one-on-one lesson with a teacher. It is your chance to learn the dance steps at your own pace.
Q. What can I expect from a group class?
A. You will be taught new dance steps in a group of your peers by one of our teachers in a one hour session.
Q. What happens on a social evening?
A. Music is played while you have the chance to socialize and practice the dances with your peers in a one hour session.
Q. Are exams compulsory?
A. No but they are recommended to help your understanding of your strong points, what you can change or improve.
Q. Does Fred Astaire organize competitions?
A. Yes we do. Competitions comprise of “Match dances” (between our studios), Championships and many others.
Q. Will I be able to participate in competitions?
A. Yes, you will compete against students in your level.
Q. How long will it take me to learn all the dances?
A. This depends on length of your membership, your constant attendance, enthusiasm, dedication and your own pace of learning.
Q. Where can I purchase suitable dance shoes?
A. Our studios recommend Remac, Ballet Box and Dance Euphoria
